There are many kinds of kitchen countertop materials available today. Some are in the do it yourself variety and some take special skill and tools to obtain installed. All kitchen countertop material however have another thing in common. None would be the perfect product for anyone.
Take probably the most inexpensive kitchen countertop material, plastic laminate such as the Formica (c) brand. This material is strong relatively stain resistant, will come in a wide selection of colors, textures and styles and is rather easy to put in. The negatives however include it may be cut easily while preparing food and it also burns. Accidentally place a hot pan on your own new plastic laminate kitchen countertop and also you end up which has a nice round burn mark. This is permanent and should not be cleaned away. Knife marks or cuts with this material also usually fill up with dirt and often make the countertop look ugly regardless of what it's age. This is definitely one of my personal favorite kitchen countertop materials however since it is a great surface to organize baking goods and food. To circumvent the problems using this type of material, I've simply purchased special plastic cutting boards that resist heat, ask them to cut into your laminate counter where I usually put hot pans and do my cutting. I get the many benefits of laminate kitchen countertops minus the usual problems Next up, is ceramic tile. Nothing can beat ceramic tile for the "Old World" hand made look. The tile itself doesn't burn, scorch, or cut with normal wear. There's a broad array of colors, textures and since it is a hand installed product, you can obtain as fancy or as plain when you prefer. Beautiful stuff Really. There's two big difficulty with ceramic tile however. First, as it's tile, additionally, there are grout lines. Although the tile doesn't stain, the grout lines do however. This shows that white stuff shows should you have darker grout and darker stuff will show should you have lighter or white tile. Grout maintenance, and not difficult still must be a consideration. The other problem is only a problem when you bake. Rolling out dough using a tile surface is hard because in the grout lines and tile imperfections. A ceramic tile kitchen countertop is just not smooth or perfectly flat.
One form of kitchen countertop rapidly expanding in popularity could be the solid surface and granite type counters. Solid surface materials are synthetic while the granite is natural. Each however give you a beautiful mix of natural mixture of color that will give your home a clean, upscale look. These materials appear in a variety of colors with all the solid surface being released in solid and multi colors. Granite typically appears to be a multi colored aggregate having a deep glowing tone. The two biggest problems with these products however are definitely the same. The first is price. Both solid surface and granite kitchen countertops may very well be some with the high end, most costly options available. 100-150 dollars per running foot of countertop is usual. This can also or may NOT include any back splash around the counter. The other trouble with both the solid surface and granite countertop materials will be the rather limited selection. You will have to be very delighted by your selection as unlike the cheaper plastic laminate kitchen counter, replacing these components is expensive.
We have a broad range of kitchen countertop selections that rising in both kind of material and product selection. When choosing precisely what is right for you, be aware in the possible issues so you still can be happy and content with your investment regardless of the selection.
